CTO as a Service
A Chief Technology Officer provides technology oversight, ensuring that your investments support your company's goals and protect your data and reputation. They manage technology vendors and company risk, and plan for future growth.
Technology as a Strategy.
Why a CTO?
There are various reasons to outsource your technology oversight and your Managed Service Provider (MSP) offers a "Fully Managed" option. So, why partner with rCyberIQ?
Perhaps you are in a period of company growth and you now need to scale your technology to meet new demands. Or maybe your organization's current technology approach is largely reactive and emergency-based. So your IT team is busy putting out fires, unable to prioritize your company's cybersecurity or AI policy or your backup and disaster plan.
A Chief Technology Officer will work with your Managed Service Provider (MSP) or internal IT team to shift your technology operations from reactive to proactive and ultimately strategic. Not replacing your IT team, a CTO builds internal IT capacity, all the while reducing unnecessary IT spending, and eliminating communication barriers between technical and non-technical teams so that you are never left guessing.
Don't have an internal IT team? I will work with your MSP and act as your internal Technical Lead. Keeping in mind that I am not "tied" to any specific MSP - so my only job is making sure our combined services are serving your company's mission.
Is your current managed service "fully managed"? This arrangement might still pose a challenge when your leadership team does not have the technical experience to effectively evaluate, negotiate, or hold your MSP accountable.
CTO as a Service is designed to be flexible. We can arrange to scale up during major projects, such as a system migration, and scale down during quieter periods. All the while avoiding the cost of a full-time executive position.
What sorts of tasks will a CTO perform?
Through governance support, policy development, training, and translating for staff, Elders, leadership, and community members.
If needed, I will attend team meetings and act as a technical liaison where I may respectfully advise on technology and security decisions, risks, and opportunities.
We will ensure your organization’s security and data handling comply with appropriate legislation, e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA, or provincial privacy laws, as well as funding requirements.
This includes the development of incident response, backup, and disaster recovery plans and documentation.
Staff training on these topics is also available.
I can assist with purchasing decisions, recommending appropriate and affordable options, ensuring you never spend more than what is needed on only what is necessary. No more, no less.
This includes assistance with writing the technology portions of funding applications, sourcing non-profit discounts and technology grants, and technology-related reporting to your funders.
I will assist with vendor selection and contract negotiations for IT providers, software and hardware vendors, and contractors.
If you already have these contracts established, I can assist with auditing the terms to ensure that you are only paying for what you are using. I will also translate all contract terms for your leadership teams so there are no hidden costs or surprises.
This include the following systems: donor/client management, finance, HR, case management, phone, mobility, and VoIP services, and cloud/network storage services.
I will assist with small or large-scale changes in software, hardware, or process-based changes in your organization. To minimize work disruption and reduce staff resistance or discomfort.
I will audit your current assets and implement a manageable tracking system ensuring all teams know exactly what assets they have at their disposal. This ensures no unnecessary spending, using what you have before purchasing more.
Moreover, if we know all your assets and where they are located, we are better equipped to protect and secure their use in your organization.
I can assist with planning for rural, remote, or on-reserve internet connections where this might pose challenging. Or perhaps you are planning a new site location, I can collaborate with your installation technicians and ensure your new site is equipped with the necessary network resources to scale your operations.
I am also experienced with network cable installation and layout design. So, I am equipped to make small additions or changes to your network, or clean up messy, unorganized cables in your network closet.
Does your team have an AI policy? I can assist with its development and even train staff to assist with adoption.
I am continuously learning and keeping myself informed on new technologies that may help the teams that I support. I will advise on new solutions if I identify one that might be suited for your goals.
